South Zone Junior Golf Tour

The South Zone Junior Golf Tour provides our juniors a stepping stone to the IGU Junior National Tournaments as well as helps prepare them for the rigors of tournament golf both locally as well as internationally.

We started hosting tournaments back in 2003, and had only one tournament with 40 juniors in that year. Over the next few years the number of tournaments increased gradually and it is now a circuit consisting of 10 (Ten) - 2 (Two) day Junior Tournaments held in various centres (Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mysore, Coorg, Ooty, Kodaikanal, and Trivandrum) in South India, with an average participation of 85 juniors. This tour is open to both boys and girls (18yrs and below) resident in India.

Our Objectives with this Tour are to:

  • Spot talent
  • Develop and evaluate competitive skills
  • Provide a stepping stone to the IGU Categorized Tour
  • Produce an Olympic Champion

The format of the tournaments is "Stroke Play" - Gross Score played over 36 holes (2 days x 18 holes) except for Group E which will be 18 holes (2 days x 9 holes).

Players Compete in Five age groups - Category A(Under 18), Category B(Under 15), Category C(Under 13), Category D(Under 11) and Category E(Under 9).

This tour has been and continues to be a platform for many of the current National Junior Golfers.

Train the Trainer

The quality of junior golfers that have the capability to go further in this game depends entirely on the trainers ability. We conduct regular seminars with our coaches in South India to help improve their teaching and communication skills which in turn will help the system as a whole.

Schools Program

There is a huge bank of untapped talent that exists in our schools these days due to the fact that a very small number of these children have actally been exposed to the game of golf. The schools program aims to identify trainers and facilities which can be used to help give the kids a taste of what the game is all about.
